ABOUT US

The Wooden Chair thrives on making fresh, comforting, and innovative breakfast, lunch, and brunch dishes that delight our guests and keep them coming back. The building serves up a side of history and the team provides such welcoming service, you'll feel like part of the family!

HISTORY

The Wooden Chair opened its doors on February 10, 1993, and has grown to be one of the most unique restaurants in Stevens Point.

The eatery is located in an ornate structure that was built in 1891 to house the First National Bank. The exterior Lake Superior brownstone is still in its original condition and the interior holds many of its original features including oak wainscoting, fireplaces, and brick walls.

The Main Street entryway features a timeline of the building's rich history through old photographs of the bank as it was being built. Original bank registries, antiques, and other downtown Stevens Point history also adorn the walls.

Menu items like The Bankers Omelette and The Vault pay homage to the building's origins. When you eat at The Wooden Chair, you're a part of its history.
